SIX CAISSES DESJARDINS FROM SOUTH SHORE MONTREAL, UNITED TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE FINANCING OF A 2ND REFRIGERATED TRUCK FOR MISSION NEW GENERATION
Mission New Generation is one of the largest food banks in the province of Quebec. It is now entering its 12th year of existence and the needs are great. More than 8500 beneficiaries frequent our organisation, coming in large part from the South Shore of Montreal, and the numbers are continuing to grow. The Caisses Desjardins from Brossard, Charles-Lemoyne, La Prairie, Pierre Boucher, Saint-Hubert and Vieux Longueuil answered the urgent call from the Director General, Mr. Stéphane Plante, by contributing $35,000 for the purchase of a refrigerated truck. This vehicle , replacing a 2nd truck, is essential to our operations by collecting foodstuffs for the
warehouse where 80 tons of food are delivered on a weekly basis.
Mission New Generation is more than a food bank. This non-profit organization offers several services at lower costs to better answer the needs of the families in our community, such as:
– A shop
– Eyewear services
– Automobile and bicycle workshop
– For children, a back-to-school event distributing school supplies, summer camps, artistic events and the annual Christmas party
– A community garden in front of the building maintained by volunteers
– The development of a project to dehydrate surplus food in order to reduce waste.
In 2020, Desjardins made a commitment to contribute to the sustainable development of communities through donations, sponsorships, philanthropic partners and scholarships valued at $ 71.5M. This amount includes the $ 35.3m paid by the Community Development Fund (FADM-Fond d’aide au développement du milieu).
Thank you!
