We are immensely proud to announce that Stéphane Plante, founder and director of Mission Nouvelle Génération for 15 years, has been awarded the prestigious King Charles III Coronation Medal.
Created to commemorate the ascension of King Charles III to the throne and his coronation, this honorary distinction is traditionally bestowed upon individuals who have rendered distinguished services to the Crown, the armed forces, community organizations, or charitable endeavors. In Canada, it is awarded to citizens who have made remarkable contributions to their communities, public service, or national institutions such as the Canadian Armed Forces, the RCMP, or emergency services.
Stéphane Plante, with his inspiring slogan “Fighting poverty in all its forms”, embodies the values of dedication, altruism, and community engagement that this medal recognizes. As the founder of Mission Nouvelle Génération, he has built an organization that plays a vital role in the greater Montreal area. Thanks to his vision and leadership, Mission Nouvelle Génération has positively impacted the lives of thousands of people, partnered with multiple food banks, and supported many community organizations.
Under his guidance, Mission Nouvelle Génération has developed a wide range of services to meet the diverse needs of the community, including:
• A food bank that provides essential groceries to thousands of households each month.
• A community shop, promoting accessibility and the reuse of goods.
• A food dehydration center, an innovation that maximizes resources and reduces waste.
• A bike workshop, which aims to give a second life to used bikes and recycle them while helping community members gain mobility and autonomy.
• A community gardening center, where families and volunteers grow fruits and vegetables while fostering strong social connections.
• Several other community services, designed to support families in their daily lives and provide opportunities for autonomy and development.
Stéphane emphasizes that this medal is not just a personal recognition but a tribute to the entire team. “Without the support, dedication, and passion of our employees and volunteers, Mission Nouvelle Génération could not fulfill its mission. This medal belongs first and foremost to an engaged community,” he said.
The medal ceremony took place in Brossard on January 25, 2025, under the leadership of Ms. Alexandra Mendes, Member of Parliament for Brossard–Saint-Lambert. This memorable event celebrated not only Stéphane’s exceptional commitment but also the contributions of the entire team that drives the success of Mission Nouvelle Génération.
This distinction highlights the outstanding contributions of Stéphane and the entire Mission Nouvelle Génération team. Together, they have demonstrated that solidarity and collective effort can transform lives and build a better future for all.
We warmly congratulate Stéphane and the entire team at Mission Nouvelle Génération for this well-deserved honor. If you want to learn more or get involved in our projects, we invite you to join us in this inspiring mission of hope and change!
